‘Dear Beige’

Somewhere along the way,

I stopped choosing colors.

Yellow became too familiar,

blue felt too deep,

pink too soft,

green too nostalgic,

and red… red carried too much feeling..

Red reminded me of the version of me that laughed too loudly.

Green felt like old conversations, old places, old feelings.

And suddenly, colors became heavy.

And every shade I once loved

started carrying memories I could no longer hold gently.

So I chose beige.

Soft, quiet, safe.

The color that asks for nothing

and reminds me of nothing.

Now every curtain, every dress,

every blanket and wall

becomes beige without thinking.

Soft shades for softer existence.

So dear beige,

I never noticed when you became my comfort place.

I don’t know when I started loving you so much.

Maybe the day I needed peace

more than passion.

Wholeheartedly,

Colors.

And someone who still pauses at RED.
